The Mother Gesture
The mother gesture
Is far better
Than the father finger
Flinging accusations
Spoiling the prize
Seeing the bite
Tearing open her jaw
My father figure
No longer points his pointy finger
Not through spite
Or desire
Not to command
The conversation prior
To bend under his will
But to be crushed and helpless
While hands
Bound behind back
Flap pointlessly
Rearing up and mercilessly roaring
SET ME FREE!
As thoughts of murder
Fly through my head
My face is smothered
My voice is covered
By a pillow as soft as the feathers of a swan.
Graceful gesture
Of my white swan,
Tamed and tethered
Ripped to shreds
Discarded from a nearby window
As Black Swan enters
Wishes not to die
Not tonight
No, not this night.
Let father fingers
Take hold of flightless wings
As Mothers gesture
No longer required
Not to soothe, to kiss
To bless, to be missed.
The sorcerer will come for me at night
Riding white tigers
That hunger for freshly plucked skin.
